Tobacco Use Can Make You Impotent

Think you're a hot guy? Don't count on it if you smoke. Sexual functioning needs the coordination of the nervous system, hormones and the vascular system which pumps blood into the muscle tissue that keeps the erection. Smoking hinders every area. The effect? Impotence.

Money Up in Smoke

Smoking costs the United States over $150 billion each year in health-care costs including $81.9 billion in mortality-related productivity loses and $75.5 billion in excess medical expenditures.

Smoking Raises Risk of Blindness

Smokers are up to four times more likely than non-smokers to develop a disease that is the leading cause of adult blindness, Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), an irreversible and progressive illness that robs people of their sight. Evidence from three large studies shows smokers have a higher risk of suffering from it. "By far the main and most consistent preventable risk factor for macular degeneration is smoking," said Richard Edwards, a public health expert at Manchester University.

Health Problems caused by TSP (Tobacco Smoke Pollution)

TSP and cancer TSP (Secondhand tobacco smoke) contains over 4,000 chemical compounds. More than 60 of these are known or suspected to cause cancer.

TSP and respiratory problems each year,

  • TSP causes pneumonia and bronchitis in children younger than 18 months old.
  • TSP causes coughing, phlegm, chest discomfort and reduced lung function to nonsmokers.

TSP and death each year,

  • TSP causes an estimated 35,000 to 40,000 deaths in America from heart disease in people who are not current smokers
  • Each year TSP causes about 3,000 lung cancer deaths in America in nonsmoking adults
