In 1798, Philadelphia physician Benjamin Rush wrote about the medical dangers of tobacco.
SMOKEFREE PHILLY: THE NICOTINE CHALLENGE

If you are unable to quit cold turkey, try the Nicotine Challenge. Many previous smokers say adopting these strategies have helped them to reduce and subsequently successfully quit smoking:

  1. Make your home smoke free

  2. Smoke standing up

  3. Only smoke alone

  4. Eat in the smoke free section of the restaurant

  5. Only smoke outdoors

  6. Make your car smoke free
